Make a School Year Time Capsule

Here is information on how to build a time capsule.

Introduction...

A school year seems like a short period of time—but so many things can change in those few months!  You will be amazed and amused when you see the things you enclosed in your time capsule again at the end of June!
The first part of this assignment is to write a detailed friendly letter to yourself.  Please make sure your good copy is in correct friendly letter form.
Include as much detail as possible about your life at this moment.  The starters are intended as guidelines only—just be sure that your letter is crammed full of details.  I will read the good copy of your letter before you seal it, so you may want to leave out any information you think is really personal.

Now, put your thoughts into letter form.  Your letter should be at least a page long—but the longer and more detailed, the better!  You may either handwrite or word process your letter. Please hand in your good copy so that I can read it before you seal it in your envelope.

Finally, collect as many small items as you can that are meaningful to you for some reason.  Examples are photographs of friends, pets and family members, souvenirs of your holidays, ticket stubs, a tape or CD of your favourite music, a picture of your favourite movie star, sales flyers, pictures of fashions, cars, skateboards, teams, awards, certificates, souvenirs, —just so long as the items can fit into a large envelope.

Decorate your envelope, being sure to put your name on the outside.  I will store your time capsule until the end of June and return it to you then.  Remember—the more details, mementoes and objects you include, the more fun it will be to look at your time capsule at the end of this school year.  Then put the capsule away again, and look at it when you finish high school or pass some other milestone in your life.
